FreeDict HackFest 2018

At the 3rd and 4th of November, the FreeDict project organizes the “FreeDict HackFest”, a social-technical community event for users and developers. In case you don’t know FreeDict yet, we’re a group of passionate linguists and computer scientists, as well as language freaks in general and we are using, extending, improving or generating dictionaries.

In 2017, we had talks and workshops, we brought our dictionaries to Android mobile phones and started to work on our new web site. We want to build on this success and therefore count on you. This is the ideal chance for you to get in touch with our technology for the first time, extend your existing knowledge or to demonstrate your excellent coding skills.

This is a two-day event, but you are free to pick and mix from the schedule as you like. However, we would appreciate if you would tell us if you plan to come.

Location

The full address of the location is:

Fakultät Informatik
Nöthnitzer Str. 46, Room 1096
01187 Dresden, Germany

Show larger map

Dresden is easy to reach by plane, car or train. Just ask, if you are unsure what to do.

By Train

Our faculty is three tram / bus stops away from the central (railway) station and if you are keen on walking, this should be doable in 30 minutes. In Dresden, it pays off to buy either a “day ticket” (around 6.00 €) or at least a 4-hop-ticket (4er-Karte), where you get four tickets for the price of 5.20 € and this covers nearly all of Dresden. Tickets can be bought at most of the larger tram and bus stops.

Who?

This event is explicitly for both project members and for folks interested in the project. Please let us know when you are planning to come, so that we can adapt the program to your knowledge level.
